GOODLAND, Kan. — Producers from around Northwest Kansas met at the Sherman County Fairgrounds on Tuesday afternoon to discuss a commodity that is slightly outside of the norm; the dry, edible bean.

21st Century Bean held a Dry Bean Producer Forum to discuss the outlook and opportunities for growing dry, edible beans. The forum also created the opportunity for dry bean producers to answer questions that potential producers might have.

“We shipped a thousand loads last year out of Ruleton alone,” said Stacey Masters, GM of  21st Century Bean. Alan Townsend, local Grower and producer added that these beans are an excellent source of cheap, high protein.
