MANHATTAN, Kan. (news release) – Based on July 1 conditions, Kansas’s winter wheat production is forecast at 330 million bushels, up 19 percent from last year, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service.

Average yield is forecast at 50 bushels per acre, up 12 bushels from 2018. Area to be harvested for grain is estimated at 6.60 million acres, down 10 percent from a year ago.

Oat production is forecast at 1.43 million bushels, up 62 percent from last year. Average yield is forecast at 57 bushels per acre, up 8 bushels from 2018. Area to be harvested for grain is estimated at 25,000 acres, up 39 percent from a year ago.
